Mayo Ireland Paintings

County Mayo is where I spend most of my time painting, and the light here is unlike anywhere else - soft and diffused one minute, harsh and dramatic the next. These works capture the Atlantic coast, the rough boggy terrain, and that particular quality of Western Irish weather that locals just call 'changeable.' I painted most of these outdoors or from memory immediately after being out there. They're for people who know Ireland or want to understand it beyond the tourist clichés.
